Great shot of a strutting turkey! I'd like to take a pic like that. Wow, those guys weren't in Oakland when I was growing up there (or at least I never saw them). What species are they, anyway? We have mostly Merriam's turkeys here in AZ...

There's a lot of wild turkeys here now. I've seen them in most of the east bay parks where I go hiking. Range maps suggest they should be the Rio Grande subspecies, but I wouldn't be able to identify them for sure.
